A Bit Of History

Chico Stage Lighting was founded by Cecil Sarten. His inspiration came from a
concert at the Sacramento Municipal Auditorium in 1974. Cecil, a die hard
musician from the age of 10, was sitting in the audience with a member of his
band when it crossed his mind “why was this show so alive, colorful and
captivating?” He looked up and there was the answer…

THE STAGE LIGHTING!

 Cecil had been in the entertainment industry for over 5 decades and was a true
leader in the lighting industry. Since the early 70’s he had worked with thousands
of bands in every genre from the Temptations, Aerosmith, Willie Nelson, Dustin
Lynch, and Journey just to name a few. Cecil had worked all over California,
Oregon and Nevada chasing the next big concert or event.

After an amazing 45 years in the business he was diagnosed with Cancer and
after fighting a brave and long battle he passed away in 2018.Our story doesn’t
end there, Cecil had two daughters who he passed on his love and knowledge
for the entertainment business from a very early age, Katie and Hailey, who
have grown up in industry and have now taken over the family business and
loving every minute of it! Chico Stage Lighting has not just had huge success in
concert lighting, but now has taken on more roles with other large events such as
trades show and expos. CSL is now the third largest pipe and drape company in
California and continues to grow every year. Also added are rentals for events
such as tables, linens and drapery just to name a few.

We have also had the pleasure of providing lighting systems and other rental
services for many of the local Churches, Schools and Service Clubs in Northern
California. We also do much more than stage lighting; Chico Stage Lighting can
provide much of what you will need for concerts, corporate functions, weddings,
anniversaries or any celebrations!

After being in business since 1975’ Our daily motto is WWCD which stands for
“What Would Cecil Do”
